One can't generalize
I last deplored the fact that many homes are remodeled in such a way that they loose their intended character. I just saw one house which should have made me run away; but I admired the end product and thus accepted the transformation.
Eichler has developed the ideal California modern home, taking Frank Lloyd Wright’s building concepts to the masses, changing the California life style. Marika Sakellariou bought an Eichler in Terra Linda and in Marika’s own words, “stripped it to its core”. The result is stunning, true to the modern indoor/outdoor California ideal, but away from Eichler, most likely disturbing some purists in doing so. Architect Marek Slosar and designer Lucian Rosciszewski have rebuilt the house to take advantage of its location; from almost each window one can see the manicured garden blending in with the open space the house borders. The open floor plan allows for modern informal entertaining, but the blending of the structure and the art makes it a chic and sophisticated home.
